He enthusiastically worked the crowd, along Teignmouth seafront, enchanting children, amazing adults and leaving the few who hadn’t seen his films pleasantly bemused but smiling. He happily posed for photos, dug for treasure, outwitted the local coastguard and ran up and down the beach before eventually being taken away by the lifeboat after wading into the sea to cadge a lift in search of the Black Pearl.
